Food for Thought

If all Americans observed one meatless day per week,
we'd save an amount of carbon equal to taking
20 million midsize sedans off the road for a year.

Wow.

I learned that from Michael Pollan's article, Farmer in Chief, in last weekend's New York Times Magazine.  Check it out - there's plenty more where this came from.

That really is mind-blowing. The whole article was really fascinating. And totally disturbing in a completely different way than "The Omnivore's Dilemma". He's really good at scaring the pants off of me.

I didn't find this scary at all. I actually thought it was totally encouraging - I mean, what a simple little thing that we can do to eliminate a heck of a lot of pollution!

I think it's more the enormity of the problem that got to me. The possibilities for turning things around are certainly encouraging, though.

Did you not see what happened to Oprah...I suggest you not answer the door to anyone who looks like they might be serving you a subpoena especially if they are driving a Cadillac with longhorns on the front....I'm just sayin'
