Well...Rancho Gordo beans, of course! Raise your hand if you're surprised ;0) I'm pretty sure we'll also be doing a few other out-of-the-ordinary dishes, too, so I'll comment again after the big day. Can't wait to hear all about your Turkey Day traditions, or new additions as of this year, too!

The only thing new that I'm trying (so far) is maple glazed bacon. You partially cook bacon in the oven. Then drizzle on maple syrup. Then finish cooking until the syrup is bubbly. Let cool and munch. Does that sound tasty or what?

I will be making my cornbread dressing (http://dallaseats.blogspot.com/2007/11/thanksgiving-special-robins-cornbread.html), but I am also planning to do another veggie.

I have a great recipe for roasted butternut squash with blue cheese and roasted pecans that is pretty spectacular. I may have to go with that one...

Lisa, on Margie's blog you asked about a yummy jello salad. Sounds like my beloved late grandmothers
Coca Cola salad. Sadly, I do not have her exact recipe, but this one comes close:

I'll be making Sweet Potato and Peanut Stew and an Amaretto Torte. The stew might be a little too crazy for my family, but we'll see!

I served a Pecan Pie Flambe' style....literally....all you need is a little bourbon and some flames....it was fabulous looking, but then rendered inedible :-(
