Wine of the Week

Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards
2006 Nebbia

It's hot out there, people.  Time to set aside the big, bold reds and focus on something cool, clean and refreshing.  Enter Nebbia, Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards' dry white blend that seems tailor-made for the dog days of summer.

This winery is one of my absolute favorites, tucked in a cozy corner of the East Texas Piney Woods in a town called Pittsburg.  Owner and winemaker Jeff Sneed is a talented (and seriously hilarious) guy who knows his way around a vineyard - I'm also a fan of his Grand Reserve Meritage and Chardonnay.  Today, however, we'll stay focused on the smooth and luscious Nebbia.  Its notes of peaches and cream, touted on the label, really shine when the wine is served a little less than straight-out-the-fridge frosty.  Try it poolside or out on the deck; just make sure you've got good cell reception, so you can call and thank me :)

This friendly Nebbia and all of Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards wines are just a click away on the winery's website.  The prices are right, and your little box of heaven will arrive within days.  You could also make a day trip of it, and visit Jeff and his lovely wife Dana at their gorgeous vineyard and tasting room.  They even have sweet little cabins if you decide to sleep over.

Excellent! Whites are not just all about chardonnay, people. In fact, my wife and I are getting to where we can't even drink chardonnay anymore with oak---it tastes like tree! She likes sauvignon blanc, I like chenin blanc and french colombard, and we both like pinot grigio and blends!!

I just visited Los Pinos vineyards last month. Lovely grounds!

If you're out in that area, make sure to check out nearby Red Road Vineyards. They're a new winery so you can't buy the stuff anywhere except the tasting room right now...very promising products.

Not sure where to put this....so I will add it in here...as I know you will love it. I was out last night shaking my money-maker, when this guys came up and started talking to me....for obvious reasons...I was HAWT lastnight...so here we are in this VERY crowded bar and this guy has a little mini bottle of red wine and some tiny glass...every one is bumping into everyone and he spills his wine all over my shirt....and let me add, my shirt is one of my favs and its white! Under the influence I really wasnt that concerned about it last night but this morning, waking up and drinking 8 gallons of water and seeing the damage I was pissed. I proceeded to throw away his number, as "that aint happenin'" and then googled a good red wine removal method as the cleaners arent open and its important to remove a red wine stain within 24 hours. I found a recipe of equal parts dawn dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide.....it worked wonders...immedaite lifting and it's gone!!! See, I knew you woudl love it! MUAH! Carry on Divas!
